The Senate’s new cybersecurity bill will not only defend federal networks but the internet itself. Aptly named “Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act of 2010,” the bill creates an Office of Cyber Policy at the White House. The director will lead all federal cybersecurity efforts and devise a national cybersecurity strategy. The bill also creates a National Center for Cybersecurity and Communications at the Department of Homeland Security. The director will advise the President on efforts to secure federal networks.
