Verizon will provide an array of security capabilities, such as managed firewalls and intrusion detection, as well as a virtual private network that enables the agency’s employees to securely gain remote access to information and collaborate more effectively via voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), Web and video conferencing.
This is the second award for Verizon under Networx from HHS. The agency also hired the telecommunications company under a $187 million contract to provide voice, audio conferencing and call center and customer contact center services in January.
HHS said on its Networx website that it will take about three years to complete the transition from FTS2001.
