Agencies have until Wednesday to submit their Networx telecommunications transition orders to the General Services Administration and be reimbursed for the costs.

Karl Krumbholz, GSA’s director of network service programs, wrote in a blog post recently agencies can still submit transition orders after Aug. 31, but will not be reimbursed for their costs in moving to Networx from FTS-2001.

Over the last two years, GSA moved the transition deadline at least twice, including most recently in September 2010 when it gave some agencies another year to choose their vendor.

GSA extended the due date for 42 agencies and Native American tribes, including the departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Homeland Security and Justice.

On its Networx website, GSA says 90 percent of FTS 2001 has been transitioned to Networx through July 31, but only 58 percent of all money has been transitioned to the new contract.

Seven agencies, including the departments of Health and Human Service, Energy and Transportation, NASA and the Executive Office of the President are 99 percent or 100 percent complete.

GSA says 11 percent of fair opportunity decisions still need to be made and one percent of all statement of works need to be issued as of July 31.

Agencies through the fair opportunity process have made 170 awards through Aug 10:

  • Verizon 70
  • AT&T 53
  • Qwest 34
  • Sprint 13
  • Level-3 2

In July, GSA extended the bridge-contracts with all four FTS-2001 carriers through May or June 2012. In all, the contracts could be worth more than $515 million.

Krumbholz also wrote recently that the total annual Networx sales were $315 million in fiscal 2010 and are projected to be more than $600 million in 2011.
