Department of State

Does your department or agency have a mobile strategy or policy?

Yes, as part of the vision set out in its Quadrennial Diplomatic and Development Review (QDDR), the department made mobile computing an objective in its fiscal 2011-13 IT Strategic Plan. This objective set out to enhance and expand the department’s mobile and remote computing infrastructure to provide access to more diplomats in the field. The department’s fiscal 2014-16 IT Strategic Plan will expand on the success of the previous plan and make mobile diplomacy a major goal.

Bring-Your-Own-Device?

Yes, we currently are experimenting with technologies that will meet our security requirements that have the potential to enable a BYOD program in the future.
