A new series of locally-produced videos is designed to inspire local entrepreneurs and highlight the success of D.C.-area business leaders.

“But really what came out of it was this passion that there are pivotal plays happening in all industries,” said Robert Morgan, co-founder of Talaria Media and MorganFranklin Consulting, while discussing the launch of the Pivotal Plays video on-demand platform. “These are stories that you really wouldn’t read in the news.”

He went on to explain that while “we read a lot of headlines, we read a lot of data, we read a lot of facts about businesses,” we don’t get as much of a chance to hear of the many success stories that are “the result of a lot of pivotal plays, a lot of pivotal moments in these business leaders’ lives.”

Morgan hopes to change that. “I think the overall mission of Pivotal Plays is truly to inspire people.”

In greater Washington region, inspirational stories aren’t in short supply, Morgan said.

“The one great thing about entrepreneurs is, we’re so willing to share those stories,” he said. “That’s what we’re trying to do. We’re trying to create a video-on-demand platform of all different types of stories, all different types of people.”

Morgan’s goal is to explore the shared characteristics of entrepreneurs.

“That’s something that isn’t taught, not really spoken about all that much but most of the entrepreneurs have a tremendous amount of grit,” he said.

While we do often hear about “stories of the light bulb moment, you know, the creativity of people,” we don’t hear as much about something just as important, the “willingness to seize the day,” Morgan said. “There is not a successful person who has not had trials and tribulations throughout their personal and professional life. The question is, how do you respond to those adversities?”

Beyond entrepreneurs, Pivotal Plays has a lot planned.

“Our first series is with entrepreneurs, but we plan on capturing content from sports, media, entertainment, business leaders, entrepreneurs, women in business, non-profit leaders,” and a wide range of other subjects, Morgan said.

“It’s going to give young people a new opportunity to understand these are the kind of things that successful people go through.”
