Learn more about the USGS\'s efforts to prepare the city in the event of a megaflood

Massive flooding continues to devastate Pakistan. Meanwhile, one federal agency is helping the nation’s capital prepare for the possibility of its own megaflood. The U.S. Geological Survey recently hosted a lecture on extreme flooding and tips for reducing your loss. It was part of a monthly series of public lectures focused on science topics that matter to local communities. Federal hydrologist Phil Turnipseed was a presenter at the session on megafloods. He joined the Federal Drive to explain why these lectures are important to the USGS mission.
