GSA now requires LEED Gold on all GSA projects

The General Services Administration will require all projects to achieve a LEED Gold certification level through the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification system of the U.S. Green Building Council, Washington Business Journal reports.

The requirement only applies to GSA-owned properties. GSA-leased properties will still require only a LEED Silver certification, according to the article.

The announcement came last week from Lace Davis, director of the sustainability office for GSA, at the Green Legal Matters conference. Davis said the change to Gold certification had started in September.
