President Obama named Aneesh Chopra, currently the Chief Technology Officer in Virginia, to be the first federal CTO. On October 10, 2008, I interviewed Mr. Chopra after Virginia had been rated No. 1 in the country for IT management and information security by the National Association of State Chief Information Officers. Mr. Chopra talked about this accomplishment, and what at the time was the possibility of the federal government creating the Chief Technology Officer position.
