Dashboards: coming soon to an agency near you? Given that Obama CIO Vivek Kundra is creating a “dashboard” to track federal IT systems, we had a fascinating discussion about dashboards — what are they, how they can be used, and how difficult it is to implement them.
VA official on privacy and IT security This is based on report by the Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board (ISPAB), which makes recommendations on information security and privacy. The report, which you can read here (Scribd Flash version or PDF version), had a number of interesting recommendations including the creation of both a government chief privacy officer and agency chief privacy officers. It also recommends a re-examination of the Privacy Act of 1975, given that a few things have changed since 1975. The chairman of the privacy advisory board, Dan Chenok, senior vice president at Pragmatics and chairman of the Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board was on the Federal Drive.
