Federal response to Haiti earthquake headed by USAID, Pentagon

The Federal government has jumped into action after yesterday’s earthquake in Haiti. The lead agencies for Federal response are USAID, working through the State Department; and the Defense Department. President Obama spoke about Haiti first this morning, at the White House.

That event happened at the State Department.

About an hour later, General Fraser briefed the Pentagon news media about the military’s efforts in Haiti.
