Paul Cheung, Director of the UN Statistics Division

Open data is not just in the United States. The United Nations has launched their own data portal called UNData. Paul Cheung is the Director of the UN Statistics Division. He says the UN has been collecting statistical data from countries around the world for years, and now they are compiling it all into one place, free of charge.
