  • GSA is boosting the money you get for travel by raising per diem rates for parts of California, Virginia and New York. Rates are also rising for counties in Mississippi, Pennsylvania and Texas. GSA says the per diem it announced late last year wasn’t high enough for parts of the country. The new rates start on April 1.
  • The Justice Department is giving 20 companies a chance at $1 billion worth of technology contracts. The firms have landed spots on the department’s IT Support Services four contract. They’ll compete for task orders related to the systems development lifecycle.
  • The Marine Corps says it is going green to save lives, not just the planet. The Corps just unveiled a renewable energy strategy that will give Marines in Afghanistan solar-powered equipment. The idea is to reduce risky fuel runs through enemy territory. A three-month study last year found one Marine is wounded in every 50 trips for fuel or water in Afghanistan.
