  • GSA is asking your agency to help with the disaster in Japan. GSA has come up with a widget that links to the latest information and resources on the federal response. The agency wants the government to put the widget on their Web sites. The tool includes the latest updates on air quality and food safety in the U.S.
  • The IRS may be defeating some of its own efforts to help people finish their taxes. The agency inspector general says the IRS has put tax assistance centers in places that are not easy to get to. The IRS runs more than 400 of the centers. But the IG says the agency hasn’t kept up with geographic and demographic changes. More than one in three taxpayers have to travel at least half an hour to find one.
  • Your agency’s cafeteria is getting healthier. GSA and Health and Human Services are working to add more whole grains, fruits and vegetarian meals. You can also look for a greener cafeteria, with things like bio-based trays and green cleaning supplies. The guidelines will become part of new vendor contracts.
