These are the stories Federal News Radio reporters are working on today.

  • Your smartphone and your laptop may not be meeting a major cybersecurity requirement. Just under half of all mobile devices are not encrypted, meaning they are more vulnerable to data loss and viruses. This was one of the major findings in the annual Federal Information Security Management Act, or FISMA, report to Congress. Federal News Radio’s Jason Miller has details on how agencies are securing their systems.
  • Federal News Radio’s Jared Serbu has a report on some of the first public remarks of the Army’s new CIO. We’ve heard a lot about the Army’s move to service-wide enterprise email. The Army’s new CIO says that’s just step one. She says the Army plans a full-scale IT modernization that will create a single network, letting soldiers get access to the data and applications they need, wherever they are.
