The federal cybersecurity shortage may be worse than people thought.
Last year, the Department of Homeland Security set out to hire 1,000 cyber experts and could only bring in roughly 300.
William Waddell is the director of the Command Control and Cyberspace Operations Group at the Army War College. He says the cyber shortage could stem from the White House because it doesn’t look like cyber is a “front burner” item for them.
Defense News reports, The military services are facing a similar shortage. And they’re considering extending the normal three-year rotations to keep network security specialists at their posts longer.
