The challenges that federal employees working in national security face are constantly evolving — especially in a post-9/11 era.

John Palguta, vice president for policy at the Partnership for Public Service, joined the Federal Drive to discuss the changes for federal employees working in homeland defense and security as those efforts continue amid tighter budgets.

The organization released report last week offering lessons learned from the massive government reorganization after 9/11 that created the Homeland Security Department and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Both agencies centralized thousands of federal employees into new offices.

The report notably called the creation of the two organizations a “cautionary tale.”
