Often a trouble area for agency acquisition shops, the Government Accountability Office recently found agencies making some progress on IT acquisition.

Overall, feds plan to spend $81 billion for IT in 2012. And in a bid to examine best practices for successful IT buying, GAO evaluated what agencies did right when making technology purchases.

The Global Combat Support System-Joint’s Increment 7 investment, a Defense Information Systems Agency program, topped GAO’s list.

Army Lt. Col. Camilla White, the deputy program manager for the GCSS, joined In Depth with Francis Rose to discuss some IT-acquisition best practices.
