It’s the end of the F-22 era — or at least for building them.

After 14 years, the last of the 187 Raptor jets is complete.

Gen. John Jumper, the former Air Force chief of staff, joined In Depth with Francis Rose to talk about the past, present and future of the aerial inventory.

Jumper discussed why F-22s have been used extensively in flight but never actually in combat and the ongoing technical problems with onboard oxygen-generation systems.

And, there is still a possibility the Defense Department could resurrect the F-22 program at some point in the future. As Reuters reported, the Air Force has decided to keep some key F-22 equipment to sustain the program that could be used to revive it.
