The recent media coverage about web tracking has typically focused on private companies. But, Larry Allen, the president of Allen Federal Business Partners, told In Depth with Francis Rose there is a federal angle as well.

“Federal agencies might want to take a second look at their web security and make sure that they know who’s looking and who’s not when employees use popular mobile devices for federal business,” Allen wrote in his weekly newsletter.

“Given the popularity of the iPhone among feds it is quite likely that the browsing habits of federal employees were tracked until such monitoring was disabled late last week,” Allen wrote. “While much has been written generally about the new privacy settings set forth by Google and others, not much has been said at all about what this means for federal users of such services and related hardware.”
