Report: Attitudes about fairness in federal employment vary by gender, race

President Barack Obama has directed federal agencies to finalize their diversity plans by March.

However, the Partnership for Public Service has provided a snapshot into the current state of diversity and inclusion at federal agencies

Tim McManus, vice president of education and outreach at the Partnership for Public Service, joined In Depth with Francis Rose to discuss the report, which is extrapolated from the Office of Personnel Management’s Employee Viewpoint Survey.

McManus discussed the findings of the report. For example, federal employees of varying race and ethnicity — white, black and Latino — have a mostly dim view of how agencies support diversity.


In another of the findings, female federal workers reported being more satisfied than their male counterpart. Even so, women reported feeling less empowered and graded agency leaders lower on fairness than men.
