Defense industry warns of budget cuts going too far

Defense Department officials have said over and over again that they are aware of the importance of maintaining a strong defense industrial base during budget cuts.

But the defense industry is warning that “if austerity goes too far, the Pentagon will not have access to critical equipment in the future,” reports National Defense Magazine.

In an interview with In Depth with Francis Rose, Fred Downey, vice president of national security at the Aerospace Industries Association, breaks down what the defense industry is saying about DoD’s strategy.
