Commerce proposes changes to digital signatures
The National Institute of Standards and Technology has asked for comments about its proposed revisions to the Digital Signatures Standard.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology, a division of the Commerce Department, has asked for comments about its proposed changes to an electronic-signatures standard. The Digital Signatures Standard, also known as FIPS 186-3, is used to authenticate government correspondence.
The standard has been revised with clarifications and corrections and posted to the Federal Register. Comments must be made by May 25.
FIPS 186 was first published in 1994 and last revised in 2009.
