Digital Managing Editor

Daisy Thornton is the digital managing editor for Federal News Network. She oversees the team responsible for editing reporters’ stories for AP and Federal News Network style, curating the website, posting stories to social media, and sending email newsletters and alerts. She is the newsroom point person for web analytics, and regularly works with the in-house development team to improve website functionality and user experience. She also assists reporters in producing and project managing the creation of digital content to supplement their stories, including data visualizations, infographics, photo galleries and interactive components.

Daisy also manages the contributed article submission process; email her your letters to the editor and pitches for commentaries and op-eds.

Daisy has worked at Federal News Network since 2016, when she started as a digital writer and editor. During her tenure at Federal News Network, she has covered federal management, workforce, contracting and technology issues. In addition to publishing on the website, she has also appeared on the Federal Drive with Tom Temin.

Prior to working at Federal News Network, Daisy earned her B.A. in English from Old Dominion University. At ODU, Daisy served as both news editor and copy editor for the student newspaper, The Mace and Crown, where she focused her coverage on crime, university policy and student voting.

Daisy is married with two children, and currently lives in Virginia.
