About 3,400 customers in the Washington region are without power amid a heat wave. Among them, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and ATF, prompting them to close for the day. Employees are encouraged to telework as possible.
“With any underground problem, it takes a while to determine what the cause is,” says Pepco spokesman Clay Anderson told WTOP Tuesday night.
One source from ATF said the building closed as of Tuesday at 4 p.m. with an expectation that power would be restored by 8 p.m. that evening. Pepco then moved the schedule to 5 a.m. and now has it at 8 p.m. Wednesday night.
The ATF source, who requested anonymity because they were not approved to speak on behalf of the agency, said employees are encouraged to telework as possible.
