More vets working in public sector

More Iraq and Afghanistan era veterans are finding work in the public sector than ever before, Army Times reports.

A new report by the Labor Department finds that 30 percent of employed Iraq and Afghanistan veterans have government jobs compared to 15 percent of non-veterans.

The boost in federally employed vets can be partly attributed by the Office of Personnel Management’s effort to expand employment opportunities to for retuning soldiers.

But it’s not all good news. The Labor Department report shows the unemployment rate for vets was more than two percent higher than the national average.
