Fort Belvoir, DISA headquarters reopen after storm

Fort Belvoir has almost entirely reopened after Friday night’s storms in the Washington, D.C. that knocked out power at the base over the weekend and Monday.

Fort Meade and the Defense Information Systems Agency headquarters complex are following the Office of Personnel Management’s lead and are open with the option of unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework for its employees.

The Marine Corps Base Quantico is without power on the west side of the base.

More details below on all three operating statuses.

Meanwhile, federal offices in the area are open with the option for unscheduled leave or unscheduled telework. Unlike federal agencies in the Washington region, these bases fall outside of the operating guidance issued by OPM.

Fort Belvoir

Fort Belvoir will operate under open status on Tuesday, according to the base website.

“Employees of the Garrison are expected to report to work on time,” the website stated. “Garrison employees who need time off are authorized to request leave for the day, and Supervisors are encouraged to approve it.”

As of Monday, July 2, at 7 p.m., Dominion Virginia Power crews continued to work at restoring electrical service to facilities at the Northern Virginia base and were expected to complete work by midnight.

According to the website, the following Directorate of Human Resources facilities will be open today:

• Welcome Center (Soldier In and Out Processing)
• The ID Card facility
• Barden Education Center – colleges classes.
• Army Substance Abuse Program
• Administrative Support Division
• Military Personnel Division
• Casualty Operations.

Power has not been restored to the Installation Official Mail and Distribution Center, which will not process mail on Tuesday. Mail can be picked up from the distribution center from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Several facilities within the Fort Belvoir Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare & Recreation (DFMWR) remain without power, including:

• Officers Club
• Officers Club Pool
• North Post Outdoor Pool
• South Post Child Development Center
• School-age Service Center
• “Library Lite” at Building 778.

Once power is restored to these facilities, time will be needed to prepare them for public use.

Fort Belvoir was mostly closed Monday due to continued power outages. A few buildings were open and under normal operating status.

Marine Corps Base Quantico

The west side of the base was without power on Monday and employees in the Russell-Knox Building complex should contact their agency about Tuesday’s work schedule.

DISA

All Defense Information Systems Agency facilities in the Washington, D.C., area, including the Fort Meade Complex, today will be following the Office of Personnel’s operating status for federal agencies that was published on Monday, at 1:50 p.m. Like other government facilities, the DISA facilities will be open and employees may take unscheduled leave or telework.

Mission critical employees should report for duty as scheduled.

The complex at Fort Meade lost commercial power due to last Friday’s storm. According to Fort Meade’s Facebook page, “All on-post power should now be restored.”

DISA is requesting that all employees update their status for Tuesday between 6-9 a.m. at https://cmis.disa.mil/hr/pam. Those who are unable to access the Personnel Accountability Management System (PAM) should contact their supervisor to update their status.

Contractor employees need to follow the terms and conditions outlined in their contract.

Subscription bus service follow its regular schedule on Tuesday.
