5 years later, DC remembers massive earthquake
An Aug. 23, 2011 earthquake shook Washington, D.C., sending federal workers outside and causing $15 million in damage to the Washington Monument.

The earthquake centered northwest of Richmond, Virginia, shook much of Washington, D.C., and was felt as far north as Rhode Island and New York City.
