How to cybershop with safety

The holiday shopping season will be shifting into high gear sooner than you think. has six steps for you to stay cyber-secure as you shop online. First, don’t open any attachments or click links if they seem weird. If you have even a shred of doubt, delete. Second, buy a full suite of security software, including anti virus and anti spyware. Keep your browser and operating system up to date. Avoid websites that look like Amazon or BestBuy or legitimate retailers, but are actually fake. Surf with a critical eye. Never shop online using a public wireless network. Pay with a credit card. If you use a debit card, your overall legal protections aren’t as strong if there’s fraud. Many cards offer a one-time account number that becomes invalid once you use it.
