Smartphone apps spread personal info

Your smartphone may know a little too much about you, and is over-sharing that information. Researchers at Penn State, Duke University, and Intel Labs say many popular smartphone applications release your personal information to online advertisers and you might never know about it. LiveScience reports that twenty out of thirty apps tested in the study sent off data to another party without the user’s knowledge or consent. The information that’s being passed along includes where you are, your phone’s serial number, and even your phone number.
