Apple patches 131 security flaws this week

Windows computers aren’t the only ones that need regular security patching. This week, Apple released a security update for version 6.5 of its OS. The patch fixes 131 vulnerabilities. More than a third of the patches are not for OS X 10.6.5 itself, but for Adobe Flash that is also installed. The security company Sophos warns Mac desktop and server users to install the patch without delay. The vulnerabilities leave machines open to stolen information or botnet attacks. Information Week points out, Apple has not issued a similar patch for OS X 10.5. Apple has publicly criticized Adobe for security flaws in Flash. In fact, Apple’s iPhone and iPad platforms don’t support Flash at all.
