41 month sentence for former Fannie Mae employee

The former employee planted a virus in the agency\'s network the day he was fired

A former Fannie Mae computer programmer was sentenced to 41 months in prison for trying to erase the agency’s data. Rajendrasinh Makwana was convicted in October. Makwana was a Unix engineer working as a contractor at Fannie’s Urbana, Maryland facility. He had access to 5,000 servers. He was fired in 2008. A few days later, a staff engineer found a malicious script embedded in a program. If activated, the script could have wiped out all of Fannie Mae’s information. The script was found to have been planted by Makwana the day he was fired.
