Army looks to cut fighting force

It’ll be harder to move up in the ranks as the Army looks to cut its fighting force by tens of thousands of soldiers. Army Times reports that the Army is laying the groundwork for a smaller active-duty force by launching two personnel management initiatives. One reduces recruitment goals. The other customizes enlistment to meet specific needs. The Army is also reportedly considering tightening selection and promotion for officers, and reducing maximum service limits for enlisted soldiers.
