National Film Registry works to honor, preserve American films

Housed at the Library of Congress, the National Film Registry added 25 movies this year. Registry coordinator Steve Leggett explains how movies can make the cut

What do “The Exorcist”, “Saturday Night Fever” and “All the President’s Men” have in common? They’re all among the 2010 additions to the Library of Congress’s National Film Registry. To find out how films are chosen, the Federal Drive spoke with Steve Leggett, who coordinates the film registry program. He says that films don’t need to win awards in order to be considered.
