Raytheon purchases Pikewerks to bolster its cybersecurity

Defense contractor Raytheon has bought privately held Pikewerks to bolster its cybersecurity offerings, Reuters reports.

Pikewerks’ products include Electronic Armor, a software tool that protects executable files. No word has come out on how much money changed hands, but Raytheon says it shouldn’t impact total sales or per-share earnings.

Raytheon is treating cybersecurity as a growth area, as the defense industry braces for a drop in spending. Pikewerks is the ninth cybersecurity firm that Raytheon has bought since 2007.
