A simple headcount won’t do. Within a given pool of people, commanders need to know who has the right training and certifications, who is available based on recent deployment history, and a host of other factors. In the case of the Air Force, these questions extend beyond flight crews to the myriad of support personnel who ensure equipment is ready.
The information required to assess readiness and plan missions exists, but often in disparate data sources. Some information might be in more than one database in multiple enterprise systems of record. Some might be in a local base or camp servers, often in spreadsheets. Pulling it all together can be slow and fraught with inaccuracies.
What the services need is a way of pulling disparate data sources together such that the aggregate can be analyzed quickly and efficiently for insight into the workforce and its readiness.
That’s where DefenseReady comes in. It’s a data analytics application developed by Permuta Technologies on the Microsoft Dynamics platform. In this webinar, “Government Workforce Analytics: Insight and Impacts,” you’ll hear from three individuals with expertise on personnel requirements and the technology required to stay on top of it:
Mark Valentine, retired Air Force officer and account executive for strategic programs at Microsoft, explained the problem from a military commander’s point of view and how DefenseReady helps them fully understand and act on what’s going on in the workforce – including how its analytic capabilities enable forecasting and planning.
Betsy Appleby, chief operating officer at Permuta Technologies, explained the company’s deep background in Defense Department work and its partnership with Microsoft.
Dave Milton, chief technology officers at Permuta Technologies, described the important features of DefenseReady; its scalability, mobile and cloud capability, and security.
