Today’s interview is with Greg Wenzel, executive vice president and lead, Digital Initiatives, at the Strategic Initiative Group at Booz Allen Hamilton.  His particular emphasis is working with the Defense Department with the intimidating acronym C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance).

Wenzel talks about how one can take a systems approach that will allow for minimizing expense and maximizing flexibility.  He details his experience with military systems that generate data in a “stovepipe” method.  Also, he mentions the tremendous amount of data that can be generated with sensors.  All this has be combined in a secure manner.

He suggests that a flexible approach should be used with considerations given to open platform solutions. That way, one can design a system to adapt to newer technologies and retain the security and scalability that the military requires.

Greg’s short (5 minute) video on you tube gives a summary of his successful perspective.
