The United States and Russia have been attempting to “reset’ relations, which have been strained recently. And the two former rivals are giving new meaning to digital diplomacy, agreeing to share information about common cyber threats, Computer World reports.

White House cybersecurity adviser Howard Schmidt said the new agreement means the two countries will agree to exchange information about shared cyber issues, such as botnets.

Schmidt also said a crisis-prevention plan could be in place by the end of the year.

“Both the U.S. and Russia are committed to tackling common cybersecurity threats while at the same time reducing the chances a misunderstood incident could negatively affect our relationship,” Schmidt wrote on the White House blog.
