Former DoJ CIO Hitch joins Deloitte

Van Hitch will work in the company\'s federal practice as an advisor to clients about long-term technology and transformational opportunities.

Van Hitch, the former Justice Department chief information officer, has joined Deloitte’s federal practice as an advisor.

Hitch retired from DoJ in July after spending nearly 10 years as the CIO.

“Among the many responsibilities in his new role, Mr. Hitch will serve as an advisor to Deloitte’s federal clients and federal CIOs, to help them in their efforts to identify long term technology and transformation opportunities,” Deloitte stated in its release Tuesday.

Tab Warlitner, principal with Deloitte Consulting and the civilian segment lead, said in the release that Hitch brings knowledge, experience and relationships within the CIO community.

Hitch’s background is varied with experience in law enforcement, cybersecurity and IT management. He also led the CIO Council’s Information Security and Identity Management Committee.

Hitch came to Justice in 2002 after a 28-year career at Accenture. He also served in the Navy and earned a rank of lieutenant.

Justice recently named Luke McCormack as its new permanent CIO to replace Hitch.

This is yet another significant hire of a former federal official by Deloitte. Along with Hitch, Deloitte has brought on former Virginia Congressman Tom Davis, former head of the Defense Information Systems Agency Harry Raduege, former deputy administrator for e-government and IT at the Office of Management and Budget Tim Young, retired Gen. James Jones, former National Security Advisor and JoAnne Boutelle, former Defense Department deputy chief financial officer, to name just a few.
