White House tries to stop counterfeits in DoD supplies

The White House is trying to stop counterfeit supplies from entering the Defense Department’s weapons systems.

The counterfeits are largely electronics, such as semiconductors, NextGov reports.

A survey by the Commerce Department found that nearly 40 percent of DoD’s supply chain entities discovered counterfeit electronics, between 2005 and 2008.

The White House created an interagency working group that will likely include representatives from the National Security Council, DoD, NASA, the General Services Administration and several other agencies.
