March 25, 2014 — This week on “Off the Shelf”, Carolyn Alston, executive vice president and general counsel for the Coalition for Government Procurement, joins host Roger Waldron to discuss a wide range of procurement issues including strategic sourcing, commercial item contracting, contract duplication, bid protests, and the multiple award schedule pricing policy.

Alston provides details on a white paper issued last year by the coalition, that looks at GSA’s schedule pricing policy. The coalition issued some recommendations on how to improve the policy, including eliminating the “price reduction clause”, and deleting the term “most favored customer” from schedule contracts.

She also gives her thoughts on innovation in the procurement process and what can be done to make it easier for innovative commercial firms to participate in the federal market.

In addition, Alston discusses the coalition’s upcoming spring conference on April 10th, in Falls Church, Virginia.
