October Community Spotlight

The Federal News Network Community Spotlight is

Susan G. Komen

For nearly 40 years, Susan G. Komen has been working to save lives from breast cancer. This year alone, more than 40,000 people in the U.S. will die from breast cancer. That’s unacceptable! Breast cancer is unacceptable! That’s why Komen is funding cutting-edge research to bring us closer to curing all breast cancers and supporting people who are facing this disease now. Your donations are making progress in the mission to end breast cancer forever.

Be Bold. Be Fearless.

Be More Than Pink.

The Washington, DC metropolitan area has one of the highest rates for breast cancer incidence and mortality in the nation. The District of Columbia, specifically, has the highest incidence and mortality rates for breast cancer in the United States.

Susan G. Komen serves the communities within the District of Columbia; Montgomery County and Prince George’s County in Maryland; and Prince William County, Loudoun County, Arlington County, Fairfax County and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park in Virginia. Learn about breast cancer and understand your risk.
