September Community Spotlight

The WTOP Charity of the Month is
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the global leader in the fight against blood cancer. We are unstoppable innovators, funding the most promising blood cancer research globally with a commitment to equitable access for all. With a more than 70-year trach record, LLS has supported virtually every advancement in blood cancer treatment.

September marks Blood Cancer Awareness Month, providing an opportunity to remind the public about the urgent need to support research to fight this deadly disease — a disease that is diagnosed every three minutes in the U.S. and has no current means of prevention.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is also observed during September.

While many children survive leukemia, it is the most common type of pediatric cancer.

The LLS Dare To Dream project is the next phase of LLS Children’s Initiative. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) recognizes kids are different and their blood cancers need to be treated differently too.

Dare To Dream expands from families impacted by blood cancers to global research and treatment focused on children including the LLS PedAL Master Clinical Treatment, more access to free education, support, financial assistance, and advocacy.

Better treatment and care for kids is achievable, and LLS is helping make that dream come true.

LLS Information Specialists are master’s level oncology professionals who provide free, personalized assistance to patients, families and healthcare providers.

LLS Clinical Trial Nurse Navigators are registered nurses with expertise in blood cancers who conduct comprehensive clinical trial searches and personally assist patients, parents and caregivers. And our registered dietitian has expertise in oncology, providing free nutrition consultations.

Contact us for one-on-one support at (800) 955-4572, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, or by live chat/email on LLS.ORG.

So, are you ready to join the fight against blood cancer?

Join us for Light The Night to bring light to the darkness of cancer. You won’t want to miss this family friendly evening where we raise our lanterns high in support, memory and honor of those who have been impacted by blood cancer.
