A new bill in the House would take a novel approach to increasing the numbers of women and minorities in high ranking positions in the Defense Department, both uniformed and civilian. It would use grants to fund organizations devoted to leadership development and mentoring. The sponsor, Rep. Marc Veasey (D-Texas), discusses the bill on Pentagon Solutions.

It may be having problems getting built and perfected, but the Littoral Combat Ship is going to be an important part of the Navy’s fleet. That’s according to retired Navy commander Jim Feldkamp, now an adjunct professor at George Mason University.
