A small number of senior executives each year receive one of the highest honors in government. This year, the Senior Executives Association honored more than 70 Distinguished Rank Award winners and more than 215 Meritorious Rank Award winners for both 2016 and 2017.

Distinguished Rank Awards are given to one percent of career Senior Executive Service members for their sustained accomplishments. Meritorious Rank Awards are given to up to five percent of career SES members. The president honors these winners for their “outstanding achievements to enhance the mission of their agenc[ies],” according to SEA.
