Dave Hebert writes, edits, helps USGS leadership and employees connect, interacts with the public and news media, manages @The Core, works on and instigates social media projects, and offers communication consultation. He has been with the USGS since 2003. His projects have included a series of fact sheets on natural hazards, the USGS’s podcasting program, the redesign of the intranet home page, the USGS’s social media presence, multimedia and social mediacoverage of the Great Shakeout, video and blog coverage of the 2008 USGS Managers Meeting, and a publication commemorating the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. He received a bachelor’s in advertising from the University of Nebraska and a master’s in journalism from the University of Missouri, and interned at National Geographic Traveler. He is happily married and enjoys books, college football, and juggling, among other things.
