President-elect Donald Trump will violate the terms of a contract with the federal government on Inauguration Day if he doesn’t give up his ownership stake of the Washington, D.C. luxury hotel that bears his name, a General Services Administration official has determined.

House Appropriations Subcommittee members asked Tim Horne, the acting administrator of the General Services Administration, to better explain the agency’s 2018 budget request, particularly for the FBI headquarters and disposal of underutilized federal property.
General Services Administration acting Administrator Tim Horne told a congressional subcommittee the FBI headquarters project is cancelled, but not completely out of the running. Horne said the Trump Organization is in full compliance when it comes to the Old Post Office lease.
The evaluation comes more than five months after GSA’s Contracting Officer Kevin Terry and general counsel ruled that President Trump was not in violation of his lease.
