Cyber Storm 3 will be unleashed next week on dozens of businesses and government agencies in several countries. The idea is to find out how well these organizations can withstand a national cyber incident.

Cyber Storm is a multimillion-dollar, bi-annual exercise, now the third coordinated by the Department of Homeland Security, as part of the National Cyber Incident Response Plan.

Countries working with DHS are Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Britain.

On Friday, for the first time ever, the DHS will open up their highly-classified 24/7 cyber watch and warning center to members of the media. Senior officials will offer a better idea of what this year’s Cyber Storm exercise will involve.
