December 2, 2010 — Federal Security Spotlight this week talks to Randy Vickers, recently named the permanent director of the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team at the Homeland Security Department.

He explains how U.S. CERT has grown larger and more sophisticated and how its attack reverse-engineering prowess helps other agencies understand their cybersecurity challenges.

Although U.S. CERT is not a law enforcement agency, the information it produces helps law enforcement and many other constituencies in the public and private sectors.
