Report: Stuxnet worm launched in three waves

A report by Symantec founds that five initial points were the cause of thousands of attacks.

You remember the Stuxnet worm – the destructive malware that infiltrated the Iranian uranium enrichment facility year?

We’ll now a new report from security software firm Symantec says the Stuxnet attacks were launched in three targeted waves.

Researchers were able to chart the path of the infections by isolating an unusual feature in the worm.

The New York Times reports that the 12,000 infections could be traced back to just five initial infection points.
