Winter weather forcing Philadelphia-area feds to leave early

The Federal Executive Board in Philadelphia region is recommending agencies give their employees an early dismissal on Jan. 4.

The Federal Executive Board in Philadelphia region is recommending agencies give their employees an early dismissal on Jan. 4 and a delayed arrival on Jan. 5 because of freezing road conditions.

The FEB sent out a notice out today detailing its recommendations.

The Philadelphia FEB suggested agencies either set a specific time or use a staggered departure for today.

As for tomorrow, the board recommended a similar approach for the delayed arrival.

As with every FEB, the final decision for early dismissal or late arrival is made by the individual agency.

The winter storm is creating blizzard conditions in the Northeast, dropping as much as a 18 inches of snow in the Boston region, and bringing frigid temperatures across the East Coast.

The Boston FEB recommended closing federal offices on Jan. 4.

Baltimore recommended giving federal employees unscheduled leave or telework, while New York City’s board suggested a three-hour delay on Jan. 4. with  an option for unscheduled leave or telework.

This story will be updated as other FEBs report their recommendations for Jan. 5.
